What is included

Why this matters

Diagnosis is useful. Decisions require context.

The Saleability Diagnostic provides a structured view of the business through a buyer's lens. The Strategic Review goes further by testing those findings against how the business actually operates and what its financial information shows.

Before we meet, you complete the Diagnostic and a guided AI conversation and provide three years' statutory accounts, current management accounts and your current business forecast. This gives the session the grounding it needs.

The working session then tests the implications, the priorities and the realistic sequence of action. It is focused on your particular business, rather than a generic list of improvements.

After the session, you receive a final Strategic Review Pack recording the conclusions and the actions that matter most.

How it works

Prepared before we meet. Practical when we do.

The pre-work builds the evidence. The session is where we test it and decide what deserves attention.

1. Complete the pre-work

Complete the Saleability Diagnostic and a guided AI conversation. Allow approximately 40–60 minutes in total.

2. Provide the financial context

Provide three years’ statutory accounts, current management accounts and your current business forecast for focused review.

3. Take part in the thinking session

We test the findings, challenge assumptions and agree which constraints matter, what can wait and what should happen first.

4. Receive the Strategic Review Pack

Following the session, we issue the final Pack setting out the conclusions, priorities and realistic sequence of action.

What we examine

The issues that need judgement, not another checklist

The Review brings the diagnostic, operating context and financial information together to examine the questions that matter for this business.

1

Which structural risks are most likely to constrain value, resilience or transferability.

2

Where the business depends too heavily on the owner, key people, informal processes or particular relationships.

3

Where AI or software integration could create a genuine advantage — and where the underlying issue is process design, management or accountability instead.

4

Which work should remain human rather than being automated for its own sake.

5

The realistic sequence of changes that carries the greatest commercial weight for your objectives and timescale.

Who you are working with

The perspective that informs the Review

Matthew Broadbent has spent thirty years inside businesses and transactions — as Chartered Accountant, as Managing Director, as Chief Executive, and as a fund manager investing government capital into SME acquisitions.

Trained at Deloitte and operating across more than fifty transactions, he has sat on both sides of the table: as the adviser running the analysis, as the executive being scrutinised, and as the investor deciding whether to proceed and at what price.

He knows how buyers underwrite risk. He knows where advisers find the discount. He knows what ends up in the report. That is the lens the Strategic Review applies to your findings.

He has also been where you are. In his thirties, he received an offer for his own business — and nearly missed it for exactly the structural reasons this diagnostic tests. Owner dependence. Operational systems built around one person. Relationships that sat in the wrong place for a buyer. That experience is the foundation of what the Review is designed to do.

“One of a rare breed who demonstrates not only a high level of financial expertise, but also a high degree of business acumen. He translates the financial aspects of running a business to both the strategic and tactical needs of the organisation. He consistently shows a great deal of insight and commitment.”

Managing Director, construction sector

“Hard-won through years in boardrooms, high-stakes meetings, late-night document reviews, reading people acutely, and skilfully navigating conversations to uncover the truth. Time spent in Matthew's company is always an investment.”

Senior Technology Professional

“Robust financial analysis of investment opportunities, helpful strategic input, absolute integrity.”

Finance and Investment Director, property sector
